Many folks avoid paying for weight loss by following some basic dietary principles. The ketogenic, or keto, diet stresses high amounts of fat, low to moderate amounts of protein, and very few carbohydrates. It’s typically rich in foods like butter, cheese, eggs, meat, nuts, oils, seafood, and seeds, and poor on fruits, vegetables, grains, potatoes, sweets, or other carbohydrate-rich foods. Carbs are a no-no.

Others prefer a Paleolithic, or caveman, diet. It’s based on the idea that obesity is caused by ingesting “modern” food that is loaded with sugar, fat and highly processed ingredients....
