These days, we can ask the robot voice in our phone to answer just about any question, from the mundane to the profound. The answers we get also range from the mundane to the profound and on to the just plain silly. In today's text, God gives Solomon enough bandwidth to ask for anything he wants. Solomon asks for the one thing that doesn't come with a pithy answer from a phone -- he asks for wisdom.

Some of those of a certain age in your congregation will remember the days when "research" involved heading down to the local library, scouring the card catalog (which had actual paper cards), and searching by topic, author or title. We might have needed to do a search in the Reader's Guide to Periodical Literature, or pull a reference book off the shelf to find the answer to a particular question or problem.
