It’s fine to have a moral compass. The problem is that sometimes we forget to bring it along on our journey.

Justin Bieber is one of the most popular young pop musicians today, but he's had his share of difficulties with the law.

That said, Bieber is going to get us to our Philippians text. Hang on.

Last January, Bieber was arrested in Miami for drag racing and charged with a DUI. That same month, he surrendered to Canadian authorities to answer a charge of assault on a limo driver. There've been a few other incidents as well, although some of them have been exaggerated due to the excessive attention celebrities receive, and perhaps a few can be chalked up to the 20-year-old mega-star stumbling while trying to find his way in a world where his every move is photographed by the paparazzi.

It may be more notable that, so far at least, he hasn't crashed and burned in a drug-fueled conflagration of excess as has happened to some other superstars who became idols while still in their teens (Bieber was "discovered" at age 12, singing in YouTube videos).
