Jesus says that a servant shouldn’t be applauded for simply doing his job. Yeah, so what’s the point here?

"I have had the privilege of working with people on both ends of the economic spectrum, from Sudanese refugees to suburban millionaires."

That's how Mark Sheerin characterizes the two different worlds in which he's labored. Currently, he's at a financial planning and wealth management firm in Atlanta, Georgia, where, as chief operations officer and part owner, he oversees business for the company and the implementation of client portfolios.

No problem with that, but Sheerin used to work in Third World countries for World Vision, a Christian humanitarian organization that tackles the causes of poverty and injustice worldwide, and works directly with children, families and their communities. One of Sheerin's projects with World Vision was aimed at rehabilitating children and women who'd been victims of human trafficking and child labor.

So, is one of those fields of endeavor more "Christian" than the other? Is one more a place of mission than is the other? Sheerin doesn't think so. In...
