According to the National Sleep Foundation, 58 percent of us aren’t sleeping well. And God might be at the root of a lot of this insomnia!

Fifty-eight percent of us aren’t sleeping well.

That’s the finding of a study by the National Sleep Foundation. The survey says that 58 percent of adults have symptoms of insomnia at least a few nights a week.

If you are in that number, you might be interested in a Web site we found recently. Titled “41 Simple Tips for Getting to Sleep,” the site includes such standard suggestions as drinking warm milk or herb tea, avoiding naps during the day, reducing caffeine intake and taking a warm bath. But it also has some unusual tips, including toe wriggling, sleeping with your head facing north, visualizing animals in the wrong color (like blue cats and green cows) and picturing something boring.

Those things may or may not work, and the site admits that, but here’s a suggestion of ours for how to spend those wakeful hours during the night: Try writing a song.

That may not put you to sleep either, but judging from the number of songs from various genres...
