In this well-known text from Ezekiel, we see both the results of a broken relationship with God (dry bones) and the promise of revitalization (the bones come to life and are given flesh). We get at this material with a reference to the popular TV show Bones, which features a forensic anthropologist. But even Temperance Brennan might have trouble determining cause of death in this case — and she’d certainly be nonplussed at the sudden contra rationem vivification of the bones in this dry valley.
